It was so lovely to sit in the shade garden today after work. Our Texas Gold Columbine is in full bloom and I love the unusual shape of the full flower, just exquisite. Texas Gold Columbine is a perennial and of course native to Texas. It does best in shade to part sun and blooms in the spring. It grows to about 2 feet by 2 feet. The leaves are soft and light green.

When Paul and I got married we received a beautiful wedding card from Bobby and Lydia. It was a photograph printed on card stock paper of two parrots kissing which was taken in the exotic country of Brazil. The card was uniquely hand-made by Bruce Rosensteil of Small World Photos. I put the card in my stack of things that I wanted to learn and this year it finally bubbled up to the top of my pile. I am so glad it did. I have come to find out that Bruce Rosensteil is an expert photographer who also gives photography lessons and grew up in My Kind of Town.

Today I had my first class at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens with Bruce and here are a couple of my favorites.

See the land her Easter Keeping,
