Ravioli and a Roaring Fire

Tonght I tried a new recipe that my sister told me was wonderful and she was right.  Hard to find a bad recipe from Giada, she is my favorite chef.  After the cowboy game Paul and I sat by the fire and enjoyed our Ravioli with a glass of two buck chuck !! Good times [...]

Our Outdoor Rooms

This weekend we will be working more in the shade garden.  Our fireplace is complete and Paul is anxious to get a fire going even though it is 100 degrees.  If I could only get my pot sprinklers fixed all would be well.

The Arbor is Flourishing with Spring Color

Today after the rain stopped the sun came out and Paul and I visited the arbor to find a beautiful array of wisteria intertwined with climbing pinkie rose.  Paul was very worried about our wisteria this year because all the other wisteria bushes in town were in full bloom a month ago.  I guess our [...]

Innovative Mom funds college with flowers

Yesterday I happened to be off work and gardening out in front when a young man approached me.  He asked if I would like to buy some flowers to help him pay for college.  I said, of course, and he brought me down to meet his Mom, Arlissa.  They were driving a truck and on [...]

So many flowers ….so little dirt

Today I started two new flower beds outside of the new arbor.  We planted chinese wisteria on one side which blooms in the spring and evergreen wisteria on the other side that blooms in the summer.   We also planted Don Juan and Climbing Pinkie Roses.
The Climbing Pinkie Rose Bush does not have thorns so it [...]

Paul transformed our ordinary back porch into a Key West Get get-away (inspired by a pub in the Keys called “Grunts”) which we stopped at on our [...]

Time In a Bottle

We had a wonderful weekend at PB Garden.  Saturday I did some Italian cooking with a new recipe by Giada and also baked apple crisp with the apples I brought back from Maine.  Jennifer spent the weekend with us and we just love when she is here.
I had not been in the garden in two [...]

What are you going to do with those?

A few years ago, Darrell and Marty were “moving on up to the East Side”  and they were going to tear down the porch shade structure in the yard of their old Bedford house before they moved.  They asked Paul if he wanted the huge beams that were part of this structure.  When he said [...]
