Peonies

This morning I saw the little heads of the peony bush peeking out. When some people see my peony bush, they say "oh you must be from the Midwest" because you sure don't see any around here. In Texas they call it PEONY just like it is spelled, but we Chicagoan's call it PEENY.

Today I am very thankful for my best friend Paul and the beauty of our garden.  Can't wait for Spring !

 

Flashback - Then and Now

As we prepare for spring it is a great time to flashback and look at the evolution of the garden over the past almost 6 years. Our garden has evolved into an inspiration for neighbors and friends who ask us for help in building their own gardens.

Special Visitor to PB Garden

We had a special visitor today at PB Garden. Hannah came by to see us and immediately put on her gardening hat ready to water the Camellias and Pansies that were blooming. What a special day it was for me to see Hannah, Olivia Paul and Deepa. Remember Hannah, say hello to Nana Joy for me.

Mission Statement for the Garden

The Christmas season kept me so busy I have not had time to work on my blog and so tonight when I got home I found myself immediately drawn to the computer.

Paperwhites

I promised Marcie that I would post a picture of my paperwhites from last Christmas. However, this year the time has totally gotten away from me and I just got them started lat week. To make this arrangement, I start with a shallow glass bowl and fill it with red gems.

Plant Now for Spring Blooms

The other night I had dinner with my friends Sally, Lynn and Nancy. Sally's daughter is getting married next spring in their backyard and we were talking about what she could plant now for a beautiful display of flowers in the spring. Last year I planted several purple kale.
